Concordia Stingers forward Blake Richardson - son of former Panther Bruce Richardson - says he was "lost for words how nice it was" to return to Nottingham and play at the Motorpoint Arena.
It was Blake's first visit back to the city since his dad played for the Panthers for two seasons from 2008, winning the Challenge Cup in 2010 before moving on to be player-coach of Braehead (Glasgow) Clan.
Richardson got an assist as Stingers led 4-1 at one stage but Panthers mounted a late comeback to win 5-4 in front of over 6,000 supporters.
"It was a surreal experience, not just for me but our whole group," said Richardson. "I am a bit lost for words at how nice it was.
"I have the memories from when I was here when I was younger and the Panthers fans made it a great experience tonight."
Richardson warmed-up in his dad's old #9 Panthers jersey and said the idea came to him in the family home one day.
"I saw his jersey downstairs at our house and I thought it would be a nice idea if I wore it," said Richardson.
"I thought the fans would like it and it would be a nice touch. My dad said the same thing and my coaches and team-mates.
"It was a great experience for me to do that and have that honour - and it made for some nice pictures too."
