Nottingham Panthers scored three goals in the final five minutes to come from behind to beat Concordia University 5-4 to win the GM the GM Memorial Trophy.
Jason Grande started between the pipes with Luca Sheldon as back-up. British defenceman Milique Martelly, on a two-way from Milton Keynes, was named on the matchnight roster.
Nottingham Lions forward Alex Rushby, who turned 17 on Friday and twin forwards Austin Osborn and Dawson Osborn formed a trio on the fourth line.
Fossier scores Panthers first goal of pre-season
After Grande made two good early saves, Didrik Henbrant used his speed to beat his man but saw his shot saved.
Chase Pearson was denied from close-range but Tim Doherty picked up the rebound and fed Mitch Fossier to put Panthers ahead (13:52).
The visitors equalised on the powerplay when Julien Anctil fed Nicholas Girouard score from on the doorstep (18:44).
Concordia lead after two periods
The Stingers scored twice in 37 seconds to take a two-goal advantage as Girouard scored his second on the rebound (24:27) and Sean Larochelle netted with neat wrist-shot from the right-circle (25:04).
Blake Richardson, whose dad Bruce played for Panthers between 2008 and 2010, fed Edouard Charron in the right-circle to put Concordia (31:21).
Panthers closed the gap as the period came to a close as Didrik Henbrant fed Bryan Lemos in the slot on the powerplay (39:17).
Three-goal blast wins it for Panthers
Panthers stepped up the intensity in the third period and Pearson saw his shot saved from close-range.
Sheldon replaced Grande midway through the period and made his first save within moments of hitting the ice.
Henbrant fed Ross Armour who drove the net to make it a one-goal game (55:23) and the same combination combined to create the equaliser as Henbrant skated behind the net to set up Armour in the slot (58:02).
Sheldon made a good glove save moments later and Panthers scored with just 29 seconds remaining as good work by Fossier and Pearson created the winner for Doherty at the backdoor (59:31).
Doherty scores in bonus overtime period
As agreed by the teams ahead of the game, overtime was played to give both coaches a chance to see their sides play three-on-three.
Zsombor Garát and Fossier combined to set-up Doherty who went top-shelf with 36 seconds remaining in the extra period (64:24).

Panthers are back at home a week on Sunday (31st August) at 16:00 when French top-flight side Amiens visit the Motorpoint Arena.
It's the return of former Panther Kevin Bergin who is now Head Coach of Amiens who also has two former Panthers on his roster in Sean Richards and Jakub Izacky.
